SquareGlobe

THE PEOPLE. THE PERSPECTIVE. THE STORIES.

Two voices.
One vision.

Different journeys. A shared commitment to stories that endure.

Before SquareGlobe, there were two creative lives unfolding across continents. Sherry J. Williams brought a lifelong practice of writing, producing and exploring the human experience. Godwin Onohwosa brought a foundation in Nigerian theatre and television, followed by years of directing and producing in the United States. Together, those experiences shape the work we choose—and how we bring it to life.

Godwin Onohwosa

PARTNER · DIRECTOR · WRITER · PRODUCER · EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Godwin began his film and theatre career in Lagos, Nigeria, working in a growing theatre community and the emerging television industry that helped lay the groundwork for Nollywood. Before moving to the United States, he sold his thirteen-episode children’s television series, Bubbles, to the Nigerian Television Authority and worked as an arts columnist for Business in ECOWAS.

In the United States, he directed numerous stage productions and developed a community theatre that grew into a major performing arts center. He later returned to film, bringing the immediacy of live performance to his work on screen.

Godwin’s background also includes international agribusiness. His experience across cultures, creative disciplines and business informs a directing and producing approach grounded in performance, collaboration and the realities of bringing ambitious work to life.

WHAT WE HAVE BUILT TOGETHER

From the page.
To the stage. To the screen.

Through SquareGlobe, we have brought our writing, directing and producing experience together in the short films Trick Box, The Exorcism of Jimmy Lee and Intruder; the proof of concept for Colors of a Painting; and a stage production of Wole Soyinka’s The Strong Breed.

Our film work has been featured at festivals including BronzeLens, LA Black Film Festival, Spotlight and London Seasonal Shorts. Our original slate extends across feature films, episodic television and documentary, from the civil rights legacy explored in Civil Rights Man ’Til I Die to the intersecting relationships of Colors of a Painting, the generational history of This Land Is My Land and the political intrigue of The Poet Soldier. A feature-length Trick Box expands the world of our short film, while Neighbor explores a young girl’s pursuit of independence in a community where she is being hunted. Across these projects, we return to people, power, history and the consequences of choice.

HOW OUR BACKGROUNDS SHAPE OUR WORK

Rooted in an African essence.
Connected by the human experience.

Character comes first.

Our writing and theatre backgrounds keep us close to the people at the center of a story—their contradictions, relationships and choices. We look for the human stakes within larger social and political questions.

Perspective makes the story richer.

Our experiences in Africa and the United States bring different cultural reference points to the same creative conversation. We make room for complexity and for stories that hold more than one truth.

Vision meets follow-through.

Our business and producing experience supports our creative ambitions. We approach each project with attention to collaboration, planning and the practical decisions that turn an idea into work an audience can experience.

ONE WORLD. INFINITE STORIES.
